Dean Smith wins MCLAREN AUTOSPORT award

Dean Smith has claimed the prestigious 2009 McLAREN AUTOSPORT YOUNG DRIVER OF THE YEAR award. Past winners who have gone onto F1  include David Coulthard and Jenson Button.

I am absolutely delighted for him. He is a local guy to me and having ridden a tough path through a lack of sponsorship, it is great to see his talent being recognised by a panel of experienced racers and engineers.

Dean, the current Formula Renault UK Champion, has been working with me for three months now. He has tremendous focus and grit. He is the first to admit his fitness has been his weakest point in the past. That is beginning to change rapidly. By the start of next season, I predict, Dean Smith will be a ‘Terminator’ in the fitness stakes.

Dean is the second driver in succession who works with me to have won the AUTOSPORT AWARD. Euro F3 Driver Alexander Sims won last year’s prize. Another one of my clients, DTM Driver Jamie Green, is also a past recipient.
