Current McLaren Autosport Young Driver of the Year, Alexander Sims, had an excellant weekend in the International Formula Master Series at the Hungaroring in support of the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix last weekend July 24-26th.

Alexander qualified an impressive seventh after a gearbox failure meant he only had 4th, 5th and 6th gears in the corners. From that 7th grid place in Race 1, he overtook the highly rated and experienced GP2 and A1GP driver, Earl Bamber, to finish fourth with a typically aggressive, yet controlled performance.

Race 2 saw Alexander’s front wing being knocked off and despite losing downforce for the entire race he finished in a resiliant and very solid fourth place.

To add to Alexander’s excellant weekend, he was interviewed in the pitlane by BBC’s F1 team of David Coulthard  and Jake Humphreys. This was great exposure for Alexander and highlighted the regard held by many that he is one of the up-and-coming bright lights of Motor-racing.

Alexander has also been invited to the next round of the Masters in Spa, Belgium in support of the F1 round there. Meanwhile, he resumes Euro F3 duties with Mucke Motorsport in Germany next weekend.
