Congratulations to Alexander Sims who claimed his first Pole Position and subsequent podium in the Euro Formula 3 race at the Norisring, Germany on Sunday 28th. June.
Alexander was leading Race 1 from Pole when the safety car came out. He lost P1 to Bianchi but held out for an excellant second place behind the experienced ART driver. Alexander has shown great qualities in his ‘Rookie’ year in what is regarded as one of the most demanding series outside Formula 1. Alexander, who is 21 years old, has tremendous focus and physical and mental toughness and I am very proud of his efforts so far this season.
Alex Brundle (one of four rookies I work with), had his best finish yet in the Formula 2 race at the legendarily fast Spa circuit in Belguim on Sunday 28th June. Alex started from fourth and he did a tremendous job to hold off the very experienced Julian Jousse to claim fifth spot. Alex’s impressive level of conditioning and work rate in the car, allowed him to maintain his focus and keep pushing when the pressure was on and Jousse was constantly on the attack.
Alex, who is 18 years old, is doing a great job in F2 in a series where there are many more experienced and older drivers. Like Alexander, I am very proud of his efforts this season.
