Last weekend I passed my Black Belt Instructor grade in the KFM (Keysi Fighting Method). It was a great moment for me. I have three Black Belt’s now in three different arts but the KFM is the most coveted one for me and the one closest to my heart. It requires a very high-level of physical conditioning and skill to reach this level, but I have relished the training, pain and sacrifice it has taken to get here. But for me the journey and hard work continue as I strive to be a better fighter and Instructor and continue my path in the KFM.
I have to thank my own Instructor and Martial Arts inspiration of 20 years, Rob Lock. Rob is a fantastic, dynamic teacher and he has put me through the Physical and Mental mill to help me achieve this special goal of mine. I also achieved my Muay Thai and JKD Black Belt grades through him. With Rob you know you have earned every grade as you he pushes to your limit and beyond. I would not have it another way:)
KFM is a Spanish Martial Arts born on the streets by its founder, Justo Dieguez in the 1950’s. It is the most incredible and effective fighting method that I have studied. Justo and his friend and co-founder Andy Norman have taken KFM into many different spheres including as fight co-ordinators in Hollywood with such movies as Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and Mission Impossible 3. Now they are training the elite SWAT teams in Maryland in the USA. It is a Martial Art that will only go from strength to strength.
It is exciting and an honour for me to be part of such a functional, constantly evolving and honest art.
Next week , I am off to Shanghai, China to work with David Coulthard in the DTM series.
I will keep you posted on how it all goes. Until next time…..
Gerry.
